That is the name of my favorite Christmas song which I have already listened to dozens of times since the start of the Christmas music season on Friday (my dad's birthday). Seriously, is there anything better to pick up your spirits than some Christmas music? There is just something about it that fills me with such joy. I have it playing pretty much every second of the day and I can't help but smile at every lovely and familiar song. It brings back the wonderful memories of my childhood and and the excitement of making new memories with my own children. Ahhhh, it really is the most wonderful time of the year.
It's finally starting to FEEL a little like Christmas too. Last week we wore...wait for it...pants!! Crazy, I know. The downside of that is that you bring the pants out after a few months hiatus (since we were in Maine for campmeeting) and sure enough, there is at least one kid on whom they no longer fit. This time it's Brady who is graduating from 18 - 24 months to a 2T. I didn't realize they didn't fit until he was getting ready for church on Sabbath morning which then set me off in a panic trying to look through the dozens of bins in the garage for a pair of khaki colored ones. I found some at long last but as I expected, while the length was now proper, the waist was so large he could have practically fit another person in there. Oh, that I could have the same problem right now with my old jeans!
If there is anything that would deter me from having another kid (to be clear, I am already deterred as there are absolutely no plans for another) it is this little post baby issue of losing the weight. I am in week two of my program and combined with some of the other program I did, I have lost four pounds from a goal of sixteen. So it's happening just ever so s-s-s-l-l-o-o-o-w-w-l-y. Part of the problem, no doubt, is that I am pretty much always hungry. I have limited myself to only eating at meals and I no longer am eating a cookie in the evening or other sweets, but honestly, at lunch I could probably scarf down three or four grilled cheese sandwiches if given the chance. Now, to a person like my brother, Shawn, that may seem like no big deal but that is just unacceptable for a proper lady. Hopefully this appetite thing will pass once Colby isn't getting all his sustenance from me.
I am sticking by my assertion that I made a number of years ago that girls are better sleepers than boys. At that time I had no hard evidence of my own because I only had girls but I now feel like I'm in a position to make it a definitive statement. To be sure, Brady wasn't that bad, especially given his four month cough, but Colby is by no means the star that Aubree or even Calleigh was. In my last post I said that I had moved him to his crib. Yeah, well, that came and went. The dress in the crib didn't work, sorry to say. It's not like he would cry or anything, but he would keep waking up between 12:00 am - 1:00 am and toss and turn and not go back to sleep. So I would take him in bed with me (I wouldn't nurse him) and he would be okay for a few hours and then start tossing and turning again around 4:00 am. And so on. Finally, after about a week of that and feeling too fatigued after a rough Thursday night (I had gone to bed at 1:30 and woke up at like 4:30 and never really got back to a good place), I decided it was back to the swing. This time we set the camera up on the swing in the living room so I could sleep in my own bed. Heavenly! He went to bed at about 8:30 and didn't wake up until 5:30. So you can pretty much guess where he has slept since then! He has stumbled a few times since but it's still going better than the crib. Not sure how this will parlay into the sleeping arrangements at my folks but we'll figure it out as we get closer.
As for our activities of late, here are some pictures to show what we've been up to:

Saturday night we had our friends the Solers from the hospital/church over for supper. Milca loved to hold Colby but really wanted to take Brady home. She was completely smitten with him and he actually let her kiss him a bunch of times. |

The whole family came with me to drop some stuff off at the consignment store and this is where we ended up afterwards....getting a new battery put in courtesy of Mindy. The car would hardly start a time or two. Glad that happened on the weekend and not while I was by myself somewhere. |

Quick stop at Goodwill to drop off some clothes and a pop in to look for boots. Brady found these slippers and was absolutely devastated when we left without them (the line was too long). This is him saying "Puh-lease???" |

Sunday night we went down to the outlets to go to the Croc store to get shoes for Aubree. With money from the consignment store burning a hole in my pocket, we made a detour at Subway for some supper. |

Getting hair done at Daddy's salon yesterday. Duncan has surprised me with some very good hairdos on the girls lately! |
I'm going to end here so I can attempt to get to bed at a reasonable hour. Have a good rest of the week.
